Brad Holtkamp Automotive, Inc. is an independent automotive repair shop in Mt. Pleasant, IA owned by Brad and Mari Holtkamp.
The beginning of their dream was in 1981 when Brad first made the statement “Someday I’d like to open my own automotive repair business.” On April Fool’s Day 1996, after working many years for other local dealerships and in the parts business, step one towards that dream was made: Brad left a steady job and a personal two car garage was transformed into an auto repair business.
In 1999, (step two) we constructed a 4,000 square foot shop on the property behind our home. The convenience of being near for our young family outweighed the restrictions for growth due to regulations. Our business grew as we soon hired part-time help and then full time help. We were well on our way, with Brad running the shop and Mari coordinating the office.
We have built a trusting relationship with our customers. They have recommended us to friends & family, our local community has shown their support, and our kids have grown up.
It is time for the next phase of our dream (and this is the BIG one)! The “old Access Energy building” in Mt. Pleasant has been vacant for some five years. Purchasing this unused building is dually beneficial – fulfilling our dream of a significant expansion while revitalizing a building in the community.
We believe our customers appreciate our honesty, integrity, and that we are a family-owned business. We believe in treating others the way we want to be treated. We also believe in preventative maintenance. By working with our customers in this manner, we can lower their costs of ownership over the lifetime of their vehicle.
We look forward to revitalizing a vacant building, expanding our business, better serving our community, and providing employment to at least 4 additional people. The funds available through this contest would be greatly appreciated as they would go a long way towards helping us to “Dream Big, Grow Here”!
